Step 1: Cleansing
Many skin care experts suggest using clean hands instead of a washcloth otherwise hair follicles on the face may become infected by bacteria on the cloth.
Our top tips:
- Use circular motions to wash your face, gently massaging the cleanser into the skin and rinse with lukewarm water
- Many cleansers may contain sodium lauryl sulfate and cetyl alcohol – so GO ORGANIC and you will be giving your skin a head start. Click here for natural cleansers.
- Don’t use harsh bar soaps for your face as they can strip water and natural oils from the skin. Use natural vegetable soaps.
Step 2: Exfoliating
This process helps to speed skin flaking and shedding by taking off the uppermost dead layer of cells to expose the finer, more translucent tissue underneath. Exfoliating regularly can improve your complexion and give you a new glow.
Our top tips:
- Use a product specifically for your skin type.
- Keep your face moisturised, otherwise your skin can dry out and become prone to wrinkles.
- Choose a product that uses very small, round granules as larger particles can scratch. So many choices. Click here.
- Leave damaged skin to repair itself – don’t scrub it away.
- If you have dry elbows and knees then try to exfoliate at least once a week and moisturise daily – this will help them to become soft and smooth.
Step 3: Moisturise
Essential to keep skin soft, smooth and healthy, moisturising provides hydration and nutrients to your skin. Use a good natural moisturiser and your skin will thank you.
Our top tips:
- Don’t over-moisturize as this can cause pores to become clogged.
- If your skin is dehydrated or very dry use 100% organic macadamia moisturiser – it’s the best kept skincare secret and will leave your skin looking amazing. Try it, promise you will be very happy with this find!
- Always wash and moisturise your skin at bedtime.
- Use a moisturizer containing antioxidants (Vitamins A, C & E) to protect skin against environmental damages.
- Massage moisturiser into skin in a circular motion to increase blood flow.
Step 4 Maintenance
- Look after your lips Always keep a lip balm handy.
- Always use a sunscreen and don’t remove peeling, post-sunburned skin as it can cause scarring.
- Reduce puffy eyes – drink 8-10 glasses of water each day, reduce your salt intake and use a natural eye cream to tighten and firm skin around the eye.
- Bath before bed – take your daily shower or bath at night before bed to help with a relaxing and restful sleep. Use a natural body wash and then apply an all over body moisturiser.
Last words – inside out……
When it comes to the condition of your skin you are what you eat. So, avoid over processed and refined foods, drink lots of water, eat plenty of antioxidants – fruit and vegetables, maintain a healthy weight, eat whole grain cereals and breads and avoid synthetic trans-fats like margarine (they give you wrinkles way too early).
