Healthy teeth tips
- Replace your toothbrush after having a cold or the flu to avoid any risk of reinfecting yourself.
- Don’t share your toothbrush with your partner. Bacteria can be passed from one mouth to another and you could end up sharing his/her cavities.
- Brush your teeth for at least two minutes, but no more than four – too much brushing can lead to receding gums.
- Floss daily to remove decay-causing plaque from between teeth where brushing can’t reach.
- Drink plenty of water to keep your saliva flowing, especially during and after exercise. Germs that cause tooth decay, bad breath and gum disease are more abundant in a dry mouth.
- Don’t ignore bleeding gums. They are a warning sign of gingivitis, which can lead to serious oral and other health problems.
- Wait 20 minutes after drinking fruit juices before brushing your teeth.
- See your dentist regularly as dental problems can occure without any painful symptoms.
